Marian Goodman Projects is pleased to present a selection of works published by Multiples, Inc., a publishing house founded in 1965 by five partners, Marian Goodman amongst them. The 1960s were the high times of multiples; artworks were not conceived as single objects but as objects to be published in several examples, often using new materials and contemporary manufacturing techniques. Producing artworks in editions allowed a democracy of distribution, permitting them to be offered at lower prices, in turn making current developments in the art world available to a larger audience.

Marian Goodman assumed sole ownership of the company in 1974 and, in 1977, opened Marian Goodman Gallery. Even with the inauguration of the new gallery on 57th Street NY, the publication of editions under the Multiples, Inc. imprint continued. During its existence – production concluding in 1992 – over 80 objects and over 800 prints were published in collaboration with more than 90 artists, including Marcel Broodthaers, John Baldessari, Andy Warhol, Dan Flavin, Richard Artschwager, Lawrence Weiner, and others.

Our viewing space is located at 23 Golden Square, London, W1F 9JP, with visiting hours of Wednesday – Friday, 1 – 5 pm. Presenting a range of key pieces produced by Multiples, Inc., including some not previously seen as part of the New York or Libraire shows, the works on view may rotate throughout the course of the presentation.

Please contact Marian Goodman Projects to request an appointment outside these visiting hours.
