Eija-Liisa Ahtila Receives ARS FENNICA 2021 Award Hämeenlinnan taidemuseo

Marian Goodman Gallery would like to extend our sincerest congratulations to Eija-Liisa Ahtila, the recipient of the ARS FENNICA 2021 Award.

ARS FENNICA, Finland's most prestigious art prize, is awarded by the Henna and Pertti Niemistö Art Foundation. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the award in 2021, an exhibition at Hämeenlinna Art Museum will showcase a selection of the works by the nominees and the winner of ARS FENNICA 2021.

"I felt it is urgent to recognize the visionary practice of Eija-Liisa Ahtila," said Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director of the Serpentine Galleries in London, who made the decision.

"Ahtila has always bridged disciplines, working as a visual artist as well as a filmmaker and since the nineties pioneering the bringing together of moving image and installation work.
[She] has done exemplary work for more than three decades ... and has created a more balanced image of life on our planet," Obrist said.
