Julie Mehretu on TIME 100 List
In light of recent developments concerning the coronavirus (COVID-19), events, exhibitions and talks are subject to change.
TIME named Julie Mehretu to the 2020 TIME 100, its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. The full list and related tributes appear in the October 5, 2020 issue of TIME, available on newsstands on Friday, September 25, and now online.
The list, now in its seventeenth year, recognizes the activism, innovation and achievement of the world¹s most influential individuals.
"Julie Mehretu’s work—painting abstract three-dimensional landscapes that represent our often chaotic socio-political climate—is profoundly meaningful in the way that it frames stories and places. She creates her own language that serves as a portal to a place where expressionism collapses time, only to reveal our relationship to space." — David Adjaye
