William Kentridge Kyoto Art Theater Shunjuza

Franz Schubert’s set of 24 songs about a wayfarer traversing a frozen landscape, mourning his lost love, serves as the soundtrack to William Kentridge’s rendition of Winterreise, which focuses on the suffering of black laborers under Apartheid. The parallel ties to fragility of life and its personal bonds resonates strongly in this one-day production which will take place at the Kyoto Art Theater Shunjuza in Japan.
