Pierre Huyghe Frieze New York

Pierre Huyghe will be the focus of Marian Goodman Gallery’s presentation (Booth C21) at Frieze New York (May 4 - 6, VIP Preview on May 2-3) with his iconic work: L'Expédition Scintillante, Acte 2, Untitled (Light Box) (2002).

“An object at once a beacon and a stage is lost in the space, emitting a play of light synchronized with the music of Eric Satie’s Gymnopédies No. 3 and No. 4 orchestrated by Claude Debussy. A reminiscence of the early light show in its attempt to formalize the “inner journey” experience induced by psychotic drugs. The shutters on the top part of the sculpture are synchronized with the machine rhythm, opening and closing, repeatedly letting the color flow beyond the object.”
