Fondation Giacometti has produced a catalogue with Fage Editions for the "Giacometti/Messager: Nos Chambres" exhibition in Paris. "Nos Chambres" at the Fondation Giacometti creates a dialogue between the art of the two artists. The exhibition is on view from October 16, 2018 through January 13, 2019.
"Nos Chambres" at the Giacometti Institute in Paris, France creates a dialogue between the art of Messager and Giacometti. In Giacometti's life and work, Messager made rich and varied discoveries: sculptures and drawings, notebooks and personal documents, new works she created for the occasion.
"Annette Messager. Pudique – Publique" is an eponymous retrospective of works at Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (IVAM) in Valencia, Spain.
Annette Messager challenges the traditions of craftwork, the art of making things by hand, by transforming handmade work into a personal statement of history and womanhood.
The exhibition demonstrates the impossibility of a linear interpretation of her work, emphasizing the need for the viewer to become an active participant and accept responsibility for generating an interpretation of it.
As part of opening night, the artist will have a conversation with the art critic, historian and journalist Elisabeth Lebovici on July 5, 2018.
Marian Goodman Gallery congratulates Annette Messager on being awarded the 2016 Praemium Imperiale Global Arts Prize, Lifetime Achievement in Sculpture. Since its inauguration in 1989, it has been given annually by the Japan Art Association and has become a mark of the arts.
